Why Cape Town?

Cape Town is arguably Africa's star tourist destination.

Adorned by her famous mountain and hugged by both the Indian and the Atlantic ocean this melting
pot of world cuisine and culture introduces the visitor to an experience rich in history and filled with welcoming smiles.

Cape Town in South Africa's most welcoming city. You would be forgiven for thinking that Africa is inhabited only by black tribes, but once you have met the descendants of the Khoi groups and the Malay slaves as well as the mixed race groups, you will discover a rich tapestry of History.

The Architecture from the old houses of the Bo-Kaap to the gabled traditional Cape Dutch homes, to the Cape Kramats along the top of Signal Hill will enthral you and provide a variety of eye candy not readily available elsewhere.

The food, from Cape Malay curry's to traditional Afrikaner potjiekos, not to be beaten by the Xhosa fare available at Mzoli's in Gugulethu township, will all delight your tastebuds whether you are a meat eater, vegan or vegetarian.

The scenery is simply spectacular. Apart from the compulsory trip to the summit of Table Mountain, there is the beautiful winding journey along the peninsula to Chapmans peak and then down the other side again. The breathtaking views over Hout Bay and the opportunities to see the Whales in high season will ensure that your trip is worthwhile.

And then as far as marine wildlife goes, there are the seals that congregate around the fishing vessels at Kalk Bay, the penguins (Yes there are penguins in Africa) at the reserve at Boulders beach in Simonstown and of course the fabulous Great White breeding waters in Gansbaai.

Kalk bay is definitely worth a stop, not only for the quirky fishing boats in the harbour but also the really fresh and tasty fish and chips and of course more luxurious cuisine at the Brass Bell, located on the Station platform.

This site will take you through most of the best known spots in Cape Town and also reveal some of the lesser known spots and opportunities for something completely different.
